Mr. Samir Ghosh- Chairman
|
Mr. Samir Ghosh currently works as a senior consultant with the World Bank and UNDP. Earlier he has worked as a senior consultant with UNICEF India as Social Planning expert. He has also undertaken various projects and research studies for several national and international organizations in Social Exclusion. He has prepared the Maharashtra state Action Plan for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs). His work in decentralized planning has been appreciated and accepted by the Planning Commission GoI. He was founder- Chairman of “Rehabilitation India”. He was a working committee member of the India’s IXth & Xth five-year Plan and also governing body member of several committees at the GoI and United Nations. He was the editor and leader of the drafting committee on preparation of global policy paper on ‘Policy guidelines on prevention of handicapping conditions’. He has authored the State Comprehensive Disability Policy document for Government of Chhattisgarh and Bihar which has been recognized as the best practice policy in India by World Bank in the India Country Report 2009. Currently he is advising the Govt. of Rajasthan on Social Policy and advising Rajasthan Mission on Livelihood on preparing inclusion strategies for PwDs within the mainstream livelihood initiatives. He is also anchoring a project by Planning Commission-UNDP which is a documentation of best practices from ten states of India in the area of “Livelihood and PwDs" in 10 States of India. The final document is expected to provide major leads for the 12th five year plan and strengthening the chapter on disability for NREM.

Mr. Achintya Ghosh- Trustee

Mr. Achintya Ghosh has graduated from IIT Kharagpur in 1980. Soon after, he had joined a Community Development project in Kalahandi district of Orissa under OXFAM West Orissa Programme. He worked there during 1980 – 82. He had spent a year in a Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Midnapur district of West Bengal before joining PRADAN during its formative stage in 1983. He has been providing leadership in building PRADAN’s livelihood programme in Eastern India (Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Orissa). During 1985-86 he has attended Management Education Programme (20 weeks duration) at I.I.M. Ahmadabad. In 1989 he served as a fellow at Study of Philanthropy (4 months Program), City University of New York, USA. In 1997 he became the fourth-Executive Director of PRADAN for a five-year term (1997-2002). He continues to work in PRADAN as Programme Director supporting PRADAN projects in Rajasthan, Bundelkhand and Assam; provide leadership in programme areas of Natural Resource Management and Livestock and serves as member of management of PRADAN

Dr. P. K. Biswas- Trustee
|
Dr. P.K.Biswas, Ph.D. (Sociology), is currently associated as Professor of Sociology & Community Development in Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal. He has been a Research Fellow at Institute for Social and Economic Change, Bangalore during October 1978 to April 1983. Dr. Biswas is a Member of several National and International professional associations including member of board of governors. He has been involved in more than 75 projects including student’s project work as part of organisational training and dissertation, in collaboration with Government, NGOs, Industries, Donor Agencies (National and International) and other organisations on various aspects of Natural Resource Management, Livelihood and Rural Development concerning tribal, rural poor and marginalised communities. He has participated in about 160 national and international workshops, seminars and conferences and has organised about 55 of them. He has undertaken consultancy projects for World Bank, Ford Foundation, ADB, SIDA, JBIC and GoI and several State Governments. He has held key academic and administrative positions in IIFM during last 26 years to support academic administration. Currently he is working as Chairperson for the Management Development Programme, and Coordinator of Centre for Livelihood Management in IIFM. He has 35 research papers and a couple of books published to his credit. His areas of academic interest have been- Social and Institutional dimensions of social / Community/Farm Forestry, Joint/Community Forest Management, Livelihoods, Policy and Institutional Issues of NTFP Management, Tribal Development & Rural Development, Governance System, People’s Participation in Watershed and NRM, Micro Planning, Policy Analysis, Poverty and Development, Social and Institutional Issues of SHGs, Micro Finance, Micro Credit and Social Entrepreneurship.

Dr. Yogesh Kumar- Trustee

Dr. Yogesh Kumar completed his Ph.D. from the Giri Institute of Development Studies, Lucknow as an ICSSR Doctoral Fellow in Development Economics in 1990. He worked in a bilateral development programme on rural water and sanitation in U.P. Dr. Yogesh Kumar the founder Director of “Samarthan- Centre for Development Support”, Bhopal, which primarily works for strengthening civil society efforts to promote participatory development and governance in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Samarthan also functions to provide management support to the NGOs, facilitates participatory and strategic planning in development programme and engages in research and policy analysis, besides working on strengthening Panchayati Raj Institutions and urban local bodies at the grassroots.

Dr. (Mrs) Amita Shah- Trustee
|
Dr. Amita Shah, an economist, (Ph.D-Economics) has wide ranging experience of conducting research on various aspects of rural economy. The major areas of research interest include natural resource development with special focus on dry land agriculture and forestry, environmental impact assessment, gender and environment, agriculture-industry interface, small scale and rural industries, diffusion of technologies, and employment-livelihood issues. More recently, she has been involved in a number of studies pertaining to participatory watershed development, protected area management, economic valuation of bio-diversity, chronic poverty in remote rural areas, migration and status of women in agriculture. Over the past 22 years she has worked closely with a number of government and non-government organisations and participated in an informed process of policy formulation. She has also been a consultant to various donor agencies and has undertaken collaborative research both within and outside India. She has published about 100 research papers in professional journals and books; and participated in a number of academic seminars. She has been invited as a Visiting Fellow to academic institutions in United Kingdom, China, France and Netherlands.

Mr. Harnath Jagawat- Trustee

Mr. Harnath Jagawat is Founder Director of an NGO, N.M. Sadguru Water and Development Foundation (NMSWDF), popularly known as Sadguru. He and his wife, with the support of corporate company, founded the NGO in 1974 with it’s headquarter in Dahod in the erstwhile Panchmahals district of Gujarat which is now Dahod. Sadguru has a noble mission of promoting sustainable and equitable rural development through community-based natural development and management. He holds a Master's degree in Social Work from the M. S. University of Baroda, and received training in water management, community organization, etc. in other countries like Israel. He has over 38 years of experience in the field of rural development and managing Sagduru Foundation. Prior to this, he served in corporate sector for ten years in the area of Human Resource Development (HRD) in a large industrial organization as Head, HRD. Since 1972, when he chose to adopt rural development as his life long mission, he has been actively and single mindedly pursuing his mission, working in poor tribal dominated areas of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. He is a prolific writer and has authored more than 150 technical notes, articles and seminar papers including a book titled, "Transforming the Dry Lands". Through the sincerity of his purpose and good work, he has established good working relations with government officers and improved the image of not only Sadguru but also other NGOs among bureaucrats and national and international donors. He has developed a multi-disciplinary team of professionally competent persons with expertise in the field of natural resources management (NRM), which is now recognized nationally and internationally. On invitation of international development donors, he has visited many countries and has delivered lectures and presented papers in seminars & conferences.

Dr. Jacob Thudipara- Trustee

Dr. Jacob Thudipara, Principal, Indore School of Social Work, had his post graduation from TISS, Mumbai and Doctorate in Social Work from DAVV, Indore. He is actively involved in teaching, research and extension activities since 1983. He has published two books and 25 research articles in reputed journals. Besides, he has also completed several evaluation studies for Central and State Governments and Non-Governmental organisations. Dr. Jacob Thudipara is also a member of the Board of Studies of 6 universities and also been nominated to the Governing Bodies of several NGOs.

Mr. Binoy Acharya- Trustee

Mr. Binoy Acharya holds a M.Phil degree in Social Sciences from Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi. He is the Founder Director of “UNNATI-Organisation for Development Education”. He has been working as a researcher and public educator to promote social inclusion and democratic local governance. Over the last twenty three years, he has been associated with movements, networks and government forums relating to dalit rights, gender issues and decentralised governance. Based on his field experience, he has been writing articles and issue papers in different academic and NGO journals. He also plays a consultative role to a wide range of institutions locally and internationally, like Dalit Adhikar Abhiyan in Rajasthan, Kutch Nav Nirman Abhiyaan and Gender Resource Group, Governance and Democracy Programme of Commonwealth Foundation to mention a few. His other areas of interest include programme and strategic planning, organisational development and stakeholder participation and interfacing. He is currently based at Ahmedabad, Gujarat and works primarily in Rajasthan and Gujarat

Ms. G. Jayanthi, is a post graduate in forestry management from Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal. She has over two decades of experience in development work and has been one of the key persons in setting up Action for Social Advancement (ASA). She has specialised in community organisation, designing development interventions in the fields of natural resource management, livelihood promotion and institutional development. Mr Ashis Mondal- Managing Trustee
|
Mr. Ashis Mondal, is the Founding Director of Action for Social Advancement (ASA), a not for profit development organization in India. He is a Post Graduate in development studies from a reputed management school in India and completed higher studies on development management from abroad. His key skills include Livelihoods, social and institutional analysis; Project design and management; Imparting participatory training, Research, Policy analysis and NGO management. He is associated with the networks of various civil society organization in India. He has played active role along with others in changing development policies including those related to natural resources management in India. He is associated with the World Bank, FAO, ADB and several national and international organizations as expert in Community Demand Driven initiatives in South Asia. He has co-authored books entitled “Monitoring for Outcomes in Community Driven Projects”, published by The World Bank, Washington DC, 2007; and “A Handbook on using Participatory Monitoring and Learning Tools”, published by the Academic Foundation, New Delhi, 2007. There are more than 10 technical papers authored by him. He is an executive body member of the Round Table on Responsible Soy Association (www.rtrs.org), Argentina, a global multi-stakeholder platform for the improvement in the governance of soy supply chain.
